About MAC
The mission of the Michigan AIDS Coalition is to prevent HIV/AIDS in Michigan by promoting healthy lifestyles, providing and investing in evidence-based, innovative programs and through advocacy and education. The Michigan AIDS Coalition was officially formed February 1, 2009. On that date, the Michigan AIDS Fund and the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project completed a merger. The two agencies which merged to form MAC have more than 30 years combined experience in HIV/AIDS advocacy, education and outreach. We will continue on this path until it is no longer necessary. MAC has more than 20 years of experience addressing the growing HIV crisis in Michigan. Working closely with the state health department, the agency developed innovative and effective behavior-based workshops, outreach projects and education programs for a wide range of audiences. Today, MAC is one of Michigan’s largest, statewide, nonprofit organizations providing HIV prevention and health education.
