FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOCAL ARTISTS UNITE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST AIDS
(Ferndale, MI – October 1, 2009) For 13 years, hundreds of Detroit’s most prominent artists have donated original pieces of art to be auctioned at the Michigan AIDS Coalition’s (MAC) Artworks for Life gala, raising nearly $750,000 to date. This year, the gala is being hosted at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 7pm-11pm. Proceeds benefit MAC’s programs and services.
This year, at the gala only, attendees may purchase a special $50 ticket (only 100 tickets will be sold) R#03915 with the drawing occurring prior to the live auction. The winner may choose any silent or live auction artwork. Next, the very interactive live auction will occur and be hosted by Charles Wickins, English Auctioneer. Guests will be treated to a light fare of delicious passed hors d’oeuvres presented by the Matt Prentice Restaurant Group. Tasty desserts, compliments of the Sweet & Savory Bake Shop, Oxford, will complete the tasting. The evening will feature a cash bar, valet parking and beautiful live musical entertainment by Angie Smith, a renowned Detroit artist.
Participating artists can be viewed online at www.artworksforlife.org. Sponsors include HOUR Detroit Magazine, Sweet & Savory Bake Shop, Gyro, Venus Bronzeworks Studio, Between the Lines, and Dr. Paul A. Benson (Be Well Medical Center).
Tickets are only $65 each and can be purchased by calling (248) 545-1435.
